Harry Kane at Euro 2020At Euro 2020, Harry Kane scored four goals in seven games for England.

Tottenham’s agreement to sell Harry Kane to Manchester City for a British trade record of £160 million was swiftly debunked by the Premier League winners on Friday.

But what does this mean for the future of England’s captain? Simon Stone of Sport responds to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Are you City Kane’s most likely location?

Kane has made it obvious that he wants to leave Tottenham, and City has long been his favorite destination.

Prior to Euro 2020, he talked highly of Blues playmaker Kevin de Bruyne, and boss Pep Guardiola is said to be intrigued.

The 27-year-possible old’s departure from Spurs after 17 years was initially reported in May, and preliminary discussions were reportedly conducted between the two teams last month. However, sources from both sides distanced themselves from reports that City had made a formal £100 million offer. City, on the other hand, has made no effort to quell rumors regarding their pursuit of Kane.

Erling Braut Haaland of Borussia Dortmund has also been watched by City, although the German club has ruled out the 21-year-old moving this summer.

Following the departure of record scorer Sergio Aguero to Barcelona, Pep Guardiola’s team is on the hunt for a new striker, despite winning the championship last season despite playing most of the season without a renowned striker.

Will the Spurs really let him go?

Harry Kane warming up at the Etihad StadiumWith 23 goals, Harry Kane, far right, was the Premier League’s leading scorer last season.

Kane, who has a contract through 2024, has neither submitted an official transfer request or explicitly expressed a desire to leave, according to sources.

Kane is said to believe he has a gentleman’s agreement with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, allowing him to leave the club this summer.

However, despite suggestions, this is likely to be put to the test. Levy isn’t the kind to sell one of his top players under duress.

After another trophyless season at Spurs, the Premier League’s top scorer last season is reported to be unhappy.

Kane, who will be 28 next week, has yet to win a trophy for club or country, and it is assumed that he has decided that he has to relocate in order to pursue his professional goals.

Last Monday, new Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo said categorically that Kane was “our player,” adding, “I am looking forward to him joining the club.”

Is City willing to spend £160 million?

According to city sources, they will not pay this much. While they are one of the world’s most expensive clubs, the highest they have spent for a single player is about £65 million for centre-back Ruben Dias from Benfica last summer. Although it is recognized that obtaining Kane would need considerably more money, there are limitations to which City would not be willing to go.

City are one of the few teams with considerable spending freedom, thanks to their financial clout, which has protected them from the worst of the epidemic.

So, will he make a move?

At this point, it’s too early to tell.

Kane is a driven young guy, and Levy is a tough negotiator. Their connection dates back a long time, therefore it’s unlikely that they’ll want to fight over it.

Fabio Paratici, the club’s new managing director of football, will be a major player in this.

Paratici, who came from Juventus, has a large contact book, as onlookers at Tottenham’s 3-0 pre-season friendly victory over Colchester on Wednesday noticed when he was nearly continuously on his phone.

Spurs may be able to portray a future without Kane as one that supporters will reluctantly embrace if he can make the proper acquisitions, particularly as crowd favorite Son Heung-min has recently committed his long-term future to the club.

The 15th of August, on the other hand, is a date that everyone knows. Tottenham will face Manchester City in the Premier League’s first weekend.

Harry Kane will not be returning to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with Manchester City understood to have stepped up their interest. City are certainly ambitious, and are looking for an heir to Sergio Aguero, with the England international one of their most valuable assets. But the Premier League champions are not just looking for an Aguero replacement, they are also looking for a striker to rival Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure to play alongside him..
