Dembele, 23, improved his final season at Barcelona, in which he scored nine goals and provided four assists in all competitions.

However, the aforementioned contractual situation means that he could still leave Camp Nou due to Barcelona’s poor financial situation. The club do not want to lose the winger, after acquiring him from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for €105 million plus €40 million in transfer fees, and need to find money to bring in new acquisitions. Although club president Joan Laporta has said he is a fan of Dembele and is considering a contract extension.

Dybala, 27, has already been linked with a swap with Dembele’s teammate Antoine Griezmann at Barcelona. Paris Saint-Germain could also be interested in swapping him for Mauro Icardi, while Tottenham and ManUnited are monitoring the situation.

Juventus believe Dembele is worth investing in – even if they lose Dybala – because of the winger’s young age.

A Liverpool scout has had his eye on Conant since he made his debut for Sochaux against Monaco in the League Cup in January 2017.

Juve are clearly the favourites because they have been after him for a long time, and in my opinion this would be the perfect opportunity because he can replace [Miralem] Pjanic in the role he plays.

I just told my scout: Let’s go home. Not interested. It was a very short reconnaissance trip.
