Lower Decks is the cult favourite show about a group of young people who make it on a new reality dating show called “Lower Decks”. It premiered in 2011 and has since been renewed for a fourth season. The show has a loyal fan base and is on hiatus for the time being, which gives fans all over the world a chance to get ahead of the game and start thinking about the upcoming season.

With the 2nd season of the Netflix show “Lost in Space” coming to Netflix in June, it is safe to say that many of the cast have their minds switched on for the new season. While the show’s stars have not yet seen the script, they have been told what to expect. The crew will be taking the action out of the spaceship and into the ground, looking to make the new episodes as realistic as possible. Many members of the core cast have also been working on the show for years now, which means that they have grown a lot closer. Perhaps, as the show continues, fans will get to see some of the romance that has been hinted at in the past.

Air Canada’s marketing chief, Kirk Holman, has outed that the new seasons of Lower Decks and Perdidos de Amor, will feature a love story between two characters who are on a long-term relationship.

On Thursday, the second season of Star Trek: Lower Decks premieres on Paramount+, with fresh adventures and mishaps for the crew of the USS Cerritos. has seen the first few episodes of the show We won’t say much about the plot, although there are a few gags about people making assumptions about sexual connections amongst the lower deckers. They’re not the center of any episodes, but it happened often enough to make one question whether the show’s authors were attempting to hint at anything to the audience. Or maybe it’s the other way around, and they’re trying to convince people that romantic relationships aren’t possible.

When we talked with Jack Quaid, who portrays Ensign Boimler, and co-star Tawny Newsome, who voices Ensign Mariner, by Zoom ahead of the show’s comeback, he ventured, “I shouldn’t be saying this, but I believe I will speak for the authors.” “‘No, no, no, this isn’t a thing,’ I believe they’re saying. They aren’t romantic in the least.”

Newsome adds, “Definitely with ours.” “[Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan] and everyone wants to make it obvious that this isn’t a ‘will they, won’t they?’ situation. This is a case of ‘they won’t, therefore let’s go on.’ There’s still enough strangeness in the relationship, and enough codependency, that I think it’s incredible to explore that mature friendship that becomes too tight. It is never romantic, and I believe it is essential for everyone to understand that no one wants it.”

According to Quaid, “I believe it’s a case of will they or won’t they friendship… Two individuals that are great friends yet refuse to acknowledge it to each other. More than anything romantic, I believe that’s what we’re aiming for.”

Newsome is less certain about the future of the show’s other often partnered coupling, Ensigns Tendi and Rutherford. “Perhaps that’s what’s on someone’s mind?” she speculates. Nol Wells and Eugene Cordero, who voice those characters, seem equally unsure, and question how it might work for two enlisted Starfleet officers.

When we talked with Wells and Cordero, she remarked, “There are undercurrents.” “Whether or not it is implemented… I’m wondering what it implies for their working relationships and whether or not that’s acceptable from an HR perspective. I’m not sure what the regulations are on the Cerritos, so I’d simply ask and see whether it’s technically possible. But, as a human dynamic, I find it intriguing. If you’re not already in a relationship, you may wonder, “What does this mean?” when you’re working with someone and you have a great connection. Is this the person I’m looking for?’ That is, I believe, an unavoidable question you will ask.”

Cordero points out that “Rutherford has gone on dates with other individuals on the ship, including Barnes, so romantic parts of things are conceivable, but I feel like these four lower decks members are practically in the same group, sharing the same dorm and everything. They view it as being part of the same team and advancing together, so I’m not sure whether that’s the mentality, because right now I feel like everyone is saying, ‘No, no, no, that’s not going to happen.’ This is one of my closest friends. ‘Come on, let’s take care of this,’ or ‘Let’s get this job done.’ That, I believe, is the mindset that everyone aboard the ship is in right now, as far as the four of them are concerned. We’ll see if anything more occurs as they become more comfortable on the Cerritos in the future. However, I can picture them having a wonderful working relationship.”
