Nikola Jokic is having a fantastic season with the Denver Nuggets, with incredible numbers and the favorite to win the 2021 MVP award. The Serbian big man has improved his game every season and has become a superstar for the club this year.
After losing Jamal Murray (torn ACL), the Nuggets started the game on a three-game winning streak, and Joker played a key role in keeping his team afloat. Nikola is doing impressive things for the big man, leading his team to a 4th. place finish in the Western Conference, confirming that he is one of the best players in the world.

He is playing so well that he has been compared to Shaquille O’Neal and the great 1999/20 season. The NBA community recently heard about the comparisons between Jokic and Shaq and how similar their numbers are. However, some have spoken out in favor of the 25-year-old, while others have said it’s unfair to compare the four-time NBA champion to anyone at this point.

Shaq was certainly all-powerful. It’s hard to compare anyone to Shaq…. However, Shaq’s inability to hit free throws was a glaring weakness that made him a block in close games. Hack-a-Shaq existed because it worked. Jokic has less strength, but no weakness in his offensive game.

Shaq was one vote away from becoming the first unanimous MVP in NBA history this year. That should tell you how dominant he was. Jokic is doing a great job this season and helping his team be competitive in the West, even though they’ve had a rough start. If there’s one reason for the Nuggets to be here this year, it’s Nikola Jokic, and an MVP award would be the icing on the cake of an incredible season.
I wonder if he deserves to be compared to Shaq. We’ll see at the end of the season. For now, he seems to be the favorite to win the coveted trophy, but time will tell if he finally gets his first MVP award.
