The NFL preseason kicked off this past weekend, and while the games are generally not as high profile as the regular season, they provide a fresh look at some of the rookies who will be playing in the league this fall. On Friday night, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Seattle Seahawks rallied from an early deficit to beat the Oakland Raiders in a game that saw several players in contention for the Seahawks starting job.

The NFL preseason continues with two more games on Thursday and Friday. The Steelers will play the Vikings while the Giants will take on the Jaguars. A complete schedule and updates will be posted on the site later this week.

NFL preseason Week 2 is here, and it was an exciting start to the weekend. There will be a lot of great football games this weekend, so I will try to keep this blog updated throughout the day. We’re in the middle of preseason football’s second full week. With three weeks before the regular-season opening, expect to see more starters and familiar faces on the field this week.

The New England Patriots rolled over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, in a game in which Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was scratched late due to sickness.

The game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Arizona Cardinals on Friday was a collegiate reunion, with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes facing off against Kliff Kingsbury, his Texas Tech coach. In a quarter of action, neither Mahomes nor Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray showed much, and Mahomes’ last throw was intercepted.

The majority of the action will take place on Saturday, with ten games planned. The day begins with a matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Bears in the afternoon, followed by a matchup between the New York Jets and the Green Bay Packers in the evening. In real time, Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson could be seen fanboying Packers superstar Aaron Rodgers. The night schedule includes a Texas-sized matchup between the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys in “Jerry World,” as well as the Las Vegas Raiders (probably Los Angeles’ most popular club) taking on the Los Angeles Rams (who want that title).

On Sunday, the New York Giants face the Cleveland Browns in the Odell Beckham Jr. bowl, while Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars face the New Orleans Saints on Monday.

Week 2 of the NFL preseason schedule

The games on Friday

Bryon Pringle of the Kansas City Chiefs was a standout performance with four catches for 63 yards.

Chris Jones continues to seem like he’ll have a huge season ahead of him. Jones got a sack against the Cardinals, giving him two in nearly three quarters of preseason action. He also had a pass deflected and a fumble forced. The Chiefs don’t have to be concerned about his switch to defensive end, especially because his replacement at defensive tackle, Jarran Reed, got a sack as well. Adam Teicher’s remark

The Vikings are the team’s next opponent (8 p.m. ET, Aug. 27)

It’s easy to say “it’s the preseason, it doesn’t matter,” but there were a handful of plays Friday night that the Cardinals should be concerned about. On one play in the first half, quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receiver Rondale Moore miscommunicated, while on another, A.J. Green miscommunicated. Maybe it was simply a kink that needed to be worked out, but those kinds of errors this close to the regular season aren’t to be overlooked. The first-team offense of the Cardinals struggled. Murray only completed 1 of 4 passes for 2 yards and had one 8-yard rush. It may not have made a difference, but it wasn’t beautiful. Josh Weinfuss (@JoshWeinfuss)

The next game is against the Saints (8 p.m. ET, Aug. 28)

Washington RB Jaret Patterson, who had 16 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown, was a standout performance.

Bengals rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will chalk the last 72 hours up as a learning experience. Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie got the better of the 2021 fifth overall pick during Wednesday’s practice. On Friday night against Washington, Chase dropped three targets — with all of them coming on third downs. Chase has struggled with drops throughout training camp. However, in his breakout 2019 season at LSU, he had a mere six drops on just 124 targets, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Chase’s struggles could be attributed to getting back into football rhythm after opting out of 2020 or just a rough couple of days. Either way, it’ll be something Chase will be looking to correct before the start of the regular season. — Ben Baby

The Dolphins are the team’s next opponent (4 p.m. ET, Aug. 29)

The offense in Washington should be stronger this season, but it struggled against the Bengals. Ryan Fitzpatrick passed for 96 yards, but just 7 of his 13 passes were completed. The passing game lacked rhythm, but he did deliver a beautiful 29-yard ball to Dyami Brown. Antonio Gibson’s run game has been uneven; he’s a large back who is still learning to run with all of his strength in order to be more successful in short-yardage situations. Jaret Patterson, an undrafted rookie running back, stood out. He received some reps with the starters and also had a 37-yard kickoff return. He’ll have to prove he can contribute on special teams if Washington retains four running backs. However, he continues to demonstrate that he can run with patience and strength, and that he can catch the ball effectively out of the backfield. They may have stumbled across a diamond. ‘John Keim’

The Ravens are the team’s next opponent (6 p.m. ET, Aug. 28)

On Thursday, there will be a game.

Cam Newton of the Patriots was the standout performance, completing 8 of 9 passes for 103 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.

Cam Newton delivered the clearest message yet that he would not relinquish his starting quarterback position, going 8-of-9 for 103 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in three drives. Newton looked as as ease as he has as a Patriot, albeit against the Eagles’ second-string defense, with a 28-yard touchdown pass to receiver Jakobi Meyers after Meyers gave him a hand signal to announce his intentions before the play. From a pre-snap communication perspective, this indicates a QB and WR working at optimum efficiency. Meanwhile, substitute quarterback Mac Jones had some noteworthy moments, with his opening drive going 91 yards in 17 plays and eating up 9:04 of the time. Jones completed 13 of 19 passes for 146 yards on four drives. — Reiss, Mike

The next game will be against the Giants (6 p.m. ET, Aug. 29)

1617179966_37_Most-impactful-moves-and-2021-offseason-goals-for-all-32

DeVonta Smith, a rookie receiver, made his preseason debut and had two receptions for 19 yards on four targets in one half of action. The fact that Smith moved smoothly and didn’t seem to be hampered by the left MCL injury that kept him out of practice for two weeks was much more significant than the stat line. He began inside, slammed the brakes, and cut back out for a 10-yard reception, flashing flashes of his Heisman Trophy-winning form. Smith’s night began with a couple of drops on a pair of poor throws from Joe Flacco (who started in place of an ailing Jalen Hurts), but he smoothed out and sprung open fairly regularly as the game proceeded. Overall, it was a good warm-up for the regular-season start on Sept. 12 against the Atlanta Falcons. — McManus, Tim

The NFL preseason is here, which means it’s time for the league to stretch a little bit. To start, the NFL preseason can be broken down into two phases: the preseason and the regular season. During the preseason, each team plays three games. The first game is against another team from the same conference, which is called the ‘home team’. The second game is on a neutral field against another team from the same conference, which is called the ‘away team’. The last game is against a team from the other conference, which is called ‘away team’.. Read more about nfl preseason schedule and let us know what you think.
