Expect Nordstrom to launch another anniversary sale in 2021, and try to get the discounts early! OK, here’s the thing about the Anniversary Sale: it isn’t really an anniversary. It’s just another chance to buy stuff at a big discount at Nordstrom.com.
Yay for a sale! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale takes place every year and it’s heavily anticipated by many. The sale usually starts around the first week of August, and lasts until the first week of September. This year, the sale is 21 hours long. It’s called the Anniversary Sale because it’s only a one-day event, but the timing of the sale has changed many times over the years. The first anniversary sale was in the fall of 1954, and the sale was in the spring until the mid-1980’s. Then the sale was moved to the summertime for many years, and then moved back to the spring ever since.

They’ve been around for over 100 years (their first location was in Seattle in 1901), but Nordstrom is still a force to be reckoned with. To celebrate the first 100 years of their business, they’ve been having a special anniversary sale. Take this uber-expensive chair, for example, which is currently available for only $19.95.
