R R Superstar is back (Photo: WWE)
Fastlane ended on an incredible note for WWE when Edge defeated both Daniel Bryan and Roman, with the latter narrowly retaining his Universal Championship.
The Rated R superstar was the guest strongman to the ring for an absolutely amazing main event where the company once again had a stellar pay-per-view, this time just weeks before WrestleMania 37.
On a night full of surprises and developments in the storyline, the best action in the ring was saved until the end, when Reigns and Bryan put up an absolute fight, even by the latter’s highest technical wrestling standards.
The Tribal Leader has always been fantastic since his return at SummerSlam last August, and here he and his challenger delivered an instant classic worthy of the title they were fighting for.
Even the shenanigans weren’t enough to ruin it, as what happens next gives WWE the perfect opportunity to deliver a Triple Threat dream match at the Show of Shows next month.
Borden dodges a Running Knee from Bryan, whose signature punch accidentally hits the referee and sends him flying out of the ring.
From that point on Edge jumped up to get the upper hand, but Jay Uso came in and picked him up before the Universal Champion could submit to the Yes Lock.
Bryan fought back and accidentally hit the winner of the Royal Rumble with a steel chair before trapping him again – and this time Roman entered the stage for the first time in his WWE career.
There were no officials to see it though, and once Edge arrived in a bad mood he destroyed both men with a chair, leaving them both beaten and attacked absolutely foaming at the mouth.
Reigns managed to win to save himself, and now could be the ultimate chance to leave the honeymoon phase of his comeback and return to the mean ways that made him a legend in the first place.
Fiend returns alongside Alexa Bliss, Apollo Crews defeats Big E, Drew McIntyre and Seamus to start theWar.
WWE Fastlane began with more news than most previews, and Riddle successfully defended his US title against Mustafa Ali in a thrilling sprint.
But that wasn’t the headline, because by the time everyone was talking about RETRIBUTION turning on its leader, Reckoning and Slapjack were gone before T-Bar and Mace hit a double-ball.
On the main card is the opening match for the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler holding the gold in a fun match with Sasha Banks and Bianca Behler.
Reginald played the finals as usual, but thankfully WWE’s Legal Boss and EST added some fire to their upcoming match at WrestleMania 37, with the former delivering a huge blow to his opponent.
Those expecting a final match between Apollo Crews and Big E were wrong, as this duo earned a match for the Intercontinental Championship at Show of Shows.
It was an excellent preparation, with the champion initially looking like a beast, before a highly entertaining – albeit short – match ended with him holding on to victory.
Almost immediately after the bell, Crews jumped on Big E and completely destroyed him. It held up and provided the perfect manic ammunition for an already intense plot.
After a backstage segment, Elias – flanked by Shane McMahon and Jackson Riker – was ready to sing a song in the ring to win a Badass Bunny Grammy.
But Shane O’Mack – who was injured while training for his match against Braun Strowman – quickly announced that Elias would be his replacement against the Monster Man.
At one point Riker tried to distract Brown and Elias took a few attacks, but it was actually Guardian who looked strong before throwing McMahon’s son into Mania.
Dan Shinsuke Nakamura and Seth Rollins put on one hell of a match from start to finish.
Both men deserve credit for what may have been their best game of the night so far. It was the right result as Rollins picked up a big win after his recent comeback and gained ground ahead of his anticipated fight against Cesaro at WrestleMania.
Some superstars will be intimidated after this match, but Drew McIntyre and Sheamus are no ordinary wrestlers.
The two former friends came face to face in a brutal No Holds Barred match, their third WrestleMania match this month that took place at the Thunderdome.
They more than met the requirements, as McIntyre won with Claymore and will face Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37.

Meanwhile, in the final match before the main event, Alexa Bliss defeated Randy Orton in a supernatural match that looked more like a horror movie than a WWE match.
From falling lights to a wall of flames, Bliss used his skills to play with the Legend Killer until the Fiend made his announced return burned after his Inferno match with Orton in December.
We are officially in the final straight of the Road to WrestleMania, and fans who have left the WWE are in for a treat.
