In the latest trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Resident Evil series, the president is in danger from an incoming zombie horde: An infinite darkness. The undead have taken over the White House and it’s up to Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield to once again save the day and tackle the dark corridors and scary jumps that fans of the franchise have come to expect.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is set two years after the events of Resident Evil 4, in which Leon was sent by President Graham to save his daughter Ashley. For example, the Netflix series was created in 2006 after traces of inappropriate access to sensitive presidential files were discovered on the White House computer network. U.S. federal agent Leon S. Kennedy is part of a team invited to the White House to investigate the incident. But when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take on a horde of mysterious zombies.

APPROPRIATE: Resident Evil: The Infinite Darkness trailer introduces the new Netflix animated series set in 2021.

Meanwhile, TerraSave employee Claire Redfield stumbles upon a mysterious painting of a young boy in the country she visited while helping refugees. Claire is haunted by the drawing, which appears to be the victim of a viral infection, and begins her own investigation. The next morning Claire goes to the White House, where she sees Leon again and takes the opportunity to show him the drawing of the boy. Leon seems to see a connection between the White House zombie outbreak and the strange drawing, but he tells Claire there is no connection and leaves. As time passes, these two zombie outbreaks in distant lands lead to events that rock the nation.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is directed by Eiichiro Hasumi, who has taken the opportunity to continue the story of the popular franchise. Being involved in such a long story with so many fans has been more fun than the pressure, Hasumi says. Although this is a CG anime, I tried to make the camera and lighting look like the real shots I usually do to give this work a realistic feel. I hope both Resident Evil fans and non-fans can enjoy watching the series in one sitting.

Netflix’s adaptation of the zombie-infested world of Resident Evil is just one of many projects based on Sony’s Resident Evil horror property: Welcome to Raccoon City, which once again makes the jump to live-action. The reboot takes the franchise back to its roots, transporting viewers back to 1998 and unraveling the mysteries of Spencer Mansion and Coon City. Raccoon City, once the thriving headquarters of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, is dying in the Midwest. The exodus of society has left the city fallow, a great evil simmering under the surface. When evil is unleashed, the village changes forever. A small group of survivors must work together to discover the truth behind the umbrella and make their way through the night.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be released worldwide in July 2021, only on Netflix, while Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, scheduled for release on the 24th. November 2021 is planned.
