Shriver: I had pre-selected Barty, but if I had been told she would be facing an in form Pliskova, who had only made four strokes, I would have been a bit nervous. You don’t expect the final of a major tournament to be easy. It all depends on who wins those two or three big points. Maybe a tiebreak in one of the big sets will be the deciding factor – I think both players are ready for it. That’s what the major does. Six games before the final, you go to game seven, so you’re done now. You have few distractions. You can only go between the club and the hotel bell, and that’s like putting blinders on, so let’s go.
Blake: I think Barty will win because she has a more versatile game, she is better suited to grass. I think she can handle the pace and power of Pliskova’s serve and her big forehand. I think Barty moves well enough and will keep the ball out of the strike zone well enough to win.
