Ascent is designed to help nearly 13 million small businesses run by women.

WASHINGTON – Jovita Carranza, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, announced the launch of Ascent, a free digital e-learning platform, the first of its kind, designed to help women entrepreneurs develop and expand their businesses. Ascent offers valuable content such as. B. Consulting on disaster preparedness and business recovery, strategic marketing and financial business strategy development.

Ascent is a joint initiative of the White House, the SBA, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Women’s Affairs, and the U.S. Treasury Department. Designed to support women entrepreneurs who want to remain viable in their businesses, Ascent is packed with content and resources from each institution and backed by research.

I am excited to announce the launch of our innovative and interactive virtual learning platform that will guide women in their entrepreneurial journey. This year alone, we know that small businesses need our support more than ever to assess, reposition and recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Ascent contains valuable and timely resources to help women entrepreneurs navigate and prepare their business models. I want to thank former SBA director and business owner Linda McMahon for planting the seeds of this business, Director Carranza said. It’s an incredible privilege to help women-owned businesses – one of the main pillars of our country’s economic strength – flourish and succeed. This initiative, along with the recent announcement of 20 new business centers for women by 2021, represents the largest increase in SBA resources specifically for women in more than 30 years and adds to our country’s commitment to nearly 13 million women-led businesses. I look forward to working with our partners across the country to shine a spotlight on American women entrepreneurs and their path to success, job creation and economic independence.

According to the SBA, women start and own nearly half of the businesses in the United States, employ 9.4 million people, generate $1.9 trillion in revenue, and are represented in all industries. Ascent offers several key pathways to help women entrepreneurs implement strategies for growth and success, including disaster and recovery, strategic marketing, your people, your financial business strategy and access to capital. Each journey includes the content and tools you need to grow your business. Other topics will be added over time.

Ascent’s digital learning platform is a practical, user-friendly tool and one-stop shop for women entrepreneurs to gain knowledge on how to achieve their business goals, overcome the tough challenges and grow their existing business, said Allen Gutierrez, Assistant Administrator of the Business Development Office. The launch of this useful and timely platform will provide women-led small businesses with the resources they need to start, develop and expand their operations. We hope you enjoy your trip with Ascent.
