His attempts to set the tone for his government took place despite the unprecedented spectacle of a president who lost an election and refused to accept reality. Sources tell CNN that Trump campaigners are considering their own aggressive strategy – not to finally tackle a virus that has killed more than 237,000 Americans, but perhaps to mobilize the president in support of his false claims that his second term has been stolen.

Trump shows no sign of reacting to the deteriorating situation with Covid-19, which caused more than 100,000 new infections in five consecutive days, while Americans were obsessed with the long process of counting the votes after the elections. On Saturday, election day, 126,742 new infections were reported in Baiden.

But there were signs of controversy in the immediate vicinity of Trump after CNN reported that Jared Kouchner, his son-in-law and senior advisor, and First Lady Melanie Trump advised him to accept the loss, while his adult sons, Don Junior and Eric Trump, pressured him to continue the fight, which was based on false allegations of fraud. Kushner’s position was getting darker by the day and sources close to the president later told CNN’s Jake Tapper that Kushner was among those who had pushed Trump to organize the rallies.

Mr Krump’s intransigence and his unsurprising disregard for democracy threaten to exacerbate the country’s problems with a constitutional crisis and a disrupted transfer of power as the crisis of Kovida 19 deepens and the economy weakens.

Many GOP leaders refused to congratulate Biden or even acknowledge his victory, which shows that Trump still has a lot of influence on their party. And the President’s lies about the results could convince many of the 70 million people who voted for him that the elections were indeed corrupt, thus hampering Biden’s hopes for reunification.

But on Sunday, in an important speech, the only surviving former Republican president, George W. Bush, intervened after summoning Biden and stating in a statement that the elections were basically fair and that the results were clear.

However, the President’s stubbornness approaches a critical point when his lawyers are pressured to bring credible prosecutions and present real evidence of election fraud – even if Biden’s management leaves only a small chance to change the result on the election card.

Biden was the leader of the pandemic

Mr Trump’s keen interest in his own priorities, which does not surprise those who have followed his presidency, is still remarkable given the rapid escalation of the pandemic.

Dr. Megan Runney, an outpatient doctor from Brown University, told CNN newsroom Sunday that by the time the Biden Harris government takes Harris office, the virus will already be endemic in communities across the United States.

The former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, warned Sunday that the country will not be able to achieve its goals by the 20th century. By January, when the elected president is sworn in, the Covida 19 crisis will be at the forefront and the current government – which has said that the virus cannot be contained – must act quickly.

We passed the election… I think they should concentrate on what we can do on a national level, Gottlieb told CBS Face to Nation.

As the elections approach, the Trump White House, where coronavirus policy is led by Dr. Scott Atlas, who has despised measures such as wearing masks, has refused to inform Americans about the virus the president falsely claimed to have given up, and has made no public health announcements for months. Vice President Mike Pence, who has campaigned most of the last few weeks, will return to the White House war room Monday to chair the Trump Management Coronavirus Task Force meeting.

The inclusion of public health experts in Biden’s Coronavirus Task Force, led by former general surgeon Dr. Vivek Murty, former FDA commissioner Dr. David Kessler, and Dr. Marcella Núñez-Smith of Yale University, underlines the seriousness with which President-elect Biden intends to address the pandemic, which is likely to dominate at least his first year in office.

But the announcement will also point to how the new government will be powerless in the next 72 days to contain the pandemic that will largely determine Biden’s presidency, and how the neglect of Trump will exacerbate the heartbreaking problems that Biden will face when he sits in the Oval Office.

Dr. Jonathan Rainer, a professor of medicine at George Washington University, told CNN that Biden’s plans to take the virus more seriously are a good start and that he welcomes the federal government’s delay in dealing with the pandemic following the mismanagement of the Trump administration.

There was no captain on the state ship, Rainer said.

Inconsistent active

The day after Biden was supposed to win the election, Trump played a second round of golf over the weekend and continued to tweet false accusations that the election had been rigged.

The president has not yet made the traditional appeal to the newly elected president. Pence, who hasn’t spoken since Saturday, hasn’t had any contact with Kamala Harris, the vice-president elected.

Several of Trump’s strongest supporters in Washington supported his unsubstantiated allegations of Sunday fraud.

What we need in the presidential campaign is to make sure that every legal vote is counted, every recount is completed, and every legal challenge is heard, said Kevin McCarthy, a senior Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives and a representative of the U.S. Congress. The recently re-elected senator from South Carolina has been elected. Lindsay Graham told the Fox Sunday Morning Futures that the president shouldn’t give in because the media shouldn’t be able to name the winner of the race.

If that were the case, you’d never have a Republican president forever, Graham said.

One of the president’s friends, Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax, told CNN Reliable Sources that he spoke to the president this week and was not currently interested in concessions.

Mr Trump’s clear intention to continue to press for an election victory may be another reason for him to place his own needs above the usual definition of his duties as a civil servant. If his legal strategy fails, it may offer him a way to save face, to insist he doesn’t lose the election. It would also allow him to arouse the anger of his political base, which he could use to stay in Republican politics after he resigned from office.

But unless the president and his legal team can prove a massive fraud they haven’t committed yet, it may take family members and high-ranking Republicans to convince him it’s over.

After CNN reported that the first lady thought it was time for the president to step down, she twittered to support her husband’s position.

The American people deserve a fair election. All legal – not illegal – votes must be counted. We have to defend our democracy transparently, tweet them.

The Utah State Senate, Mitt Romney, the defeated 2012 GOP presidential candidate and a frequent critic of Trump, called on Americans to unite in Biden, said he saw no sign of widespread fraud and predicted that Trump would eventually accept the inevitable once all legal avenues were exhausted.

They won’t change President Trump’s character these days, apparently his presidency. He is what he is. And he had a relatively quiet relationship with the truth, Romney said on CNN in the State of the Union.

Don’t expect him to leave quietly at night. It doesn’t work like that.
